Last updated: 16 October 2026
This policy explains how Skelgear ("we", "us") collects and uses your personal information when you visit skelgear.com, buy from us or contact us. Our store is hosted by Shopify.
What we collect
- Contact and order details: your name, email address, delivery and billing address, phone number (if given) and what you ordered.
- Payment details: handled securely by our payment providers. We never see or store your full card number.
- Messages: anything you send us by email or through the contact form.
- Device and usage data: your IP address, browser, device and how you use the site, collected through cookies and similar technology.
- Newsletter: your email address, if you sign up.
How we use it
- To process, deliver and support your orders, returns and refunds (contract).
- To answer your questions (legitimate interest).
- To send you our newsletter, only if you have signed up. You can unsubscribe at any time with one click (consent).
- To keep the site secure, prevent fraud and improve how it works (legitimate interest).
- To meet our legal and tax obligations (legal obligation).
Who we share it with
We only share what is needed with the companies that help us run the store: Shopify (hosting and checkout), payment providers, our suppliers and delivery companies (to make and ship your order), and email and analytics tools. We never sell your personal information.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep your basket working, remember your preferences and understand how the site is used. You can manage cookies through the cookie banner or your browser settings.
International transfers
Some of our providers, including Shopify, process data outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is protected by recognised safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as the law requires for tax and accounting purposes (normally six years). Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Other information is deleted when it is no longer needed.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct, delete or move your personal information, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. To do this, email us. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
Our store is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
